Bianca Chang
Another artist I came across whilst researching was Bianca Chang, her work again surrounds typography. I think this series is a lovely collection of very delicate and organic pieces.
Coulson Macleod
I started looking into ways that I could present the information required. I came across Coulson Macleod's prints and really liked them.
I like how simple the designs are yet how big the statements are. I think the 2 colour idea and eroding typeface work well.
Poster Campaign.
The next part of the brief was to create a poster in order to celebrate 100 years of GF Smith Poster. I hoped to use my 3d structure from part 1 as a feature of this but was also open to other ideas and experimentation. Most of my development was done through sketchbook as I found it easier to document them this way, whilst using my blog as a way to show my research and inspirational resources.
Final Design Stages
I began the long task of completing my final design, which took 4 hours to perfect and was I definitely ready for a cup of tea by the end.

Inspiration for completion.
As I was experimenting I began to see a relationship between the pattern of my design and that of the Eden Project. I decided at that point I would continue with this idea. As you can see in the image behind the polygons lies a pattern of triangles; small and large. This is the basis for my design. Rather than it be a dome I want to create a full sphere.
I think the Eden Project is such a fascinating design and continued to develop the project so as to incorporate not only layers of triangles but also a pattern of polygons.
Further experimentation in repetition.
The other idea for joining each section was by corner.
I started by creating mini spheres using this technique.
Then built on the idea to create a pattern on a larger scale, I joined the corners by the exterior here
Then played around with laying the two patterns together.
Here the joins are made on the inside, I much prefer this as I think it looks a lot neater.
